West Yorkshire Critical Care Operational Delivery Network hold an annual Nursing Leadership Programme. The two day course is aimed at Senior Band 5 and Junior Band 6 Critical Care Nurses with a focus on developing leadership potential and preparing staff to lead and manage change. The course is facilitated by an external consultant with extensive experience in teaching leadership and management to the broader healthcare sector.
Prior to the course each candidate is required to complete the Myers Briggs Type Indicator Questionnaire. This is an introspective self-report questionnaire indicating different psychological preferences on how people perceive that world and make decisions. The reports are used to help individuals understand how they both made decisions and interacted with each other.
Staff attending the course agree a change management project which they will carry out individually or in small groups. The project will develop their leading change skills and be of benefit to their critical care units. There is a follow up day planned where candidates will share their change management projects and experiences.
You will also be introduced to the National Crirical Care Framework Step 4 Leadership and Management competencies.
If you are interested in attending the next Leadership Programme get in touch. We will also circulate details via your critical care educator and lead nurse.
